Restoration of a Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 QM

"

A symbol of Italian luxury, the Ferrari 365 GT 2+2, called "Queen Mary,"

is one of the most distinctive four-seater grand tourers of its time. The majestic proportions and typical elegance of the Maranello brand create a car with unmistakable character. After years of service, it was time to restore this car to its original beauty and authenticity.

Initial condition of the car

The car had not been regularly serviced for a long time, which was particularly evident in the condition of the body, where there were visible signs of corrosion. Despite these shortcomings, the car remained fully roadworthy and complete, which provided a good basis for subsequent restoration.

Restoration plan

1

Vehicle dismantling

Thorough disassembly of all parts to enable subsequent detailed inspection and determination of a restoring plan.

2

Metal work

All affected areas were stripped of corrosion and damaged parts of the body were repaired or replaced. This was followed by sanding to achieve the precise shape and strength, and the individual parts were carefully fitted together to ensure maximum precision before final preparation for painting.

3

Paint work

Once the preparations are complete, the body is painted. All that remains now is to touch up the paintwork, and then it can go to the mechanical work for final assembly of the vehicle.

4

Preparation of mechanical components

Complete restoration of the engine, transmission, differential, and parts of the chassis, so that the components are ready for final assembly.

5

Interior restoration

Restoration of leather upholstery, repair or replacement of electronics, cleaning and polishing of all interior elements.

6

Final vehicle assembly

In the final phase, all restored parts are carefully reassembled into the car with the help of mechanics and upholsterers. After final assembly, all components are checked for functionality and precise fit to ensure that the car is ready for operation in perfect condition.

7

Vehicle testing

After completing a full restoration and before handing over the vehicle, the car undergoes initial running-in and testing in operation, with an emphasis on gentle running-in of the engine and all mechanical components.

Result

The result of the restoration is a car that combines original character and elegance with perfect workmanship. Every detail, from the body to the interior and mechanical components, has been restored to meet the standards of a historically significant automobile.
