1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A
The beginnings of Porsche, with this particular car being from the last year of the so-called "pre-A" series, i.e., the last year before production of the 356 A series model.
Initial condition of the car
An amateur restoration of the vehicle was started a long time ago, which ended with the partial dismantling of the car, which remained in a complete, albeit partially dismantled state with its last owner for decades.
Restoration process
1
Disassembly of the car, cleaning of the body, start of metal work
The Porsche body consists of many individual parts, with mass production involving the use of numerous pressed smaller parts joined together.
2
Metal work
Removal of all corrosion, repair of damaged body parts, sanding and fitting before preparing the vehicle for painting.
3
Finishing the metal work
Once the outer shell has been completed, the body must be further refined, a process that was already used when the car was being prepared at the Reuter body shop in Stuttgart.
4
Preparation for painting
After the metalwork was completed, the car underwent several months of thorough preparation for painting.
5
Vehicle painting
The car has been repainted in its factory color, designated 5410 B Adriablau.
6
Final vehicle assembly
Assembly of all pre-restorated parts, new wiring harness; in all respects, down to the last component, the individual parts must be as good as new after restoration, both in appearance and in full functionality.
7
The last pieces of the puzzle
After installing the engine, including connecting the hot air exchangers, fuel lines, and all electrical cables, we can perform the first start-up and prepare the vehicle for its first test drives.
Result
The restoration of the Porsche 356 Pre-A Continental has restored this exceptional car to its original elegance and technical quality. Every detail has been restored with respect for the original specifications, from the body to the mechanics and interior. The result is a harmonious whole that is as impressive to look at as it is to drive, just as it was admired when it was first built.
